We are currently entertaining queries for profiles and features for the debut issue of Ishka Bibble. If you are a feature writer with an idea for an article or interview that will be of interest to poets and poetry readers or a publishing poet who would like to be considered for a profile inside our journal, please contact Executive Editor Carlton D. Fisher via email and put the word "Query" in your subject line. Please do not submit poems or manuscripts to this email. Use our submissions manager to submit poems and manuscripts for consideration.
What we're looking for: Profiles: Profiled poets will be interviewed for the journal, answer a brief questionnaire for a sidebar feature, and have a portfolio of their poems featured along with their interview. You may submit your own name to be considered for a profile, or if you have contact with a publishing poet, you can contact us (with their permission) about completing the interview and writing the feature. All poets suggested for profiles will be vetted carefully, and we will only accept those poets whose work we strongly believe is deserving of receiving the level of focus afforded by a a profile. Features: Features should focus on topics of interest to both working poets and to poetry readers. We are not a trade journal, and are not looking for industry-specific advice that would only apply to writers. Any features should have a broad appeal that will draw in both sides of our intended reading audience--lovers and creators of poetry. We cannot afford to pay contributing writers at this time, but you will receive credit and a contributors copy of the issue you are included in. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT COMPLETED ARTICLES OR PROFILES. Send a query and wait for a response from the editor before submitting additional work. If you have previous publishing credits, please include them inside your query letter. If you are accepted for publication in the debut issue, the deadline for the submission of your completed work is August 15th, 2015 for inclusion. After that date, we will be looking for material for issue two, which will be released in the fall of 2016. All work is subject to final editorial approval and editing.
